From the Panda Onesie (January 26, 2016)

The below is something a performed at coffeehouse a little over a year ago.  This came about because I wore a panda onesie around campus for a day for a project.  (The project was based on people’s reactions to the panda suit.)  However, looking at reactions wasn’t good enough for me, so I posted anonymously on YikYak a question.  Oh yes, I was the person who started this conversation about myself.  But man, you guys made it weird. I feel like we all have those “this isn’t how I thought my life would turn out” moments.  My most recent one found me as I made a boca burger at 10pm then climbed the stairs back to my room to wait for the results of a flash fiction contest.

When I was in eighth grade, I was going through what, up until that point of my life, the worst depression I’d experienced.  With this, came this crushing self-loathing that made it almost impossible for me to look at myself, let alone find beauty in myself.
