“Go for It” (2014)

One of my only villanelles. I loved villanelles my junior year of high school.

Slip and slide beneath crisp sheets,

smooth and calm against your skin.

Kiss the lips you came to meet.

Take the leap.

Quick smiles lure you in:

slip and slide beneath crisp sheets.

Duck under fluttering sheets,

no stuttering words allowed within.

Kiss the lips you came to meet.

Curling toes meet icy feet;

shivering fingers alight on your skin.

Slip and slide beneath crisp sheets.

Falling isn’t such a feat.

Go for it; fall on in.

Kiss the lips you came to meet.

You’re here now, so don’t you leave.

Go for it; accept the grin.

Slip and slide beneath crisp sheets,

kiss the lips you came to meet…
